Neighbourhood Support New Zealand has already sold and distributed 270 of the new 'Hunters Be Aware' and 'Cameras Operating' signs which have been going up in local communities across Aotearoa.
Since launching in August, Neighbourhood Support New Zealand's new rural crime prevention signs have been flying out the door.
The signs, which were an initiative originally started between North Canterbury Neighbourhood Support and North Canterbury Police, had been available for many years but were generally only printed and installed within the district.
As they became increasingly popular it was decided that in order to reach more people the ordering and distributing of signs should be handed over to the National Office team in Wellington who could help to manage and promote the signs across all 12 districts.
When it was realised the designs would need to be updated to include the new Neighbourhood Support logo which launched in July, New Zealand Police were approached to see if they wanted to work together to create a new and improved version. Working alongside National Prevention Centre (NPC) staff and communications professionals at Police National Headquarters in Wellington, an eye-catching take on the previous design was created making the signs easier to read and therefore more effective at thwarting would-be trespassers and illegal hunters.
“We're very exited to have partnered with NZ Police on this fantastic initiative. The signs are already proving popular across the country and go to show that our rural communities are eager to take steps to help keep their property and community safe.” says Kelsey Scarr, Neighbourhood Support New Zealand's Community Advisor.
The latest version of the signs are A3 sized (297mm W x 420mm H) and printed on high quality 4mm white aluminium composite material (ACM) with 6 drilled mounting holes for easy installation. They also come with a 15 year paint warranty and a UV resistant anti-graffiti laminate to ensure they remain legible for years to come. Signs are available to Neighbourhood Supporters, New Zealand Police, as well as the general public at $21.95 per sign excluding GST and postage.
