Neighbourhood Support Taupō is part of the national network of local groups and partners that form Neighbourhood Support New Zealand. Our common purpose is to create safe and caring neighbourhoods and communities, reducing the incidences and effects of criminal offending, building community resilience and strengthening community networks to improve the quality of life and enhance well-being of our residents.

Working with the Police and many other organisations in our community, we promote and support the development of Neighbourhood Support groups throughout our area.

The Neighbourhood Support Taupō area covers the Taupō township and immediate surrounding areas as well as communities around the northern part of Lake Taupō.

• Reduce crime (statistics show there is less crime in areas with an active Neighbourhood Support group),

• Minimise anti-social behaviour,

• Promote safety messaging,

• Learn to prepare and cope with civil defence emergencies,

• Engage Police and Civil Defence, as well as other emergency organisations,

• Liaise and cooperate with other like-minded community groups
