Neighbourhood Support is a nationwide community-led movement working alongside New Zealand Police, Fire and Emergency, and Civil Defence bringing people and neighbourhoods together to create safe, resilient and connected communities.

We collaborate to enhance community safety; foster effective communication pathways, share community intelligence and support reporting, promote crime prevention strategies and safety information, and we encourage planning for emergencies and natural disasters.

We cover the Albert Eden Puketāpapa local board area including; Point Chevalier, Waterview, Mt Albert, Mt Eden, Kingsland, Balmoral, Morningside, Balmoral, Epsom, Greenlane, Greenwoods Corner, Sandringham, Ōwairaka, Eden Tce, Western Springs, Wesley, Mt Roskill, Lynfeild, Waikowhai, Hillsbourough, The Bays, Royal Oak, and Three Kings Suburbs.

"He waka eke noa" (A canoe which we are all in with no exception)

This whakatauki implies that ‘we are all in this together’. It can be a really useful one when working with groups on a particular focus. For example, where is the waka heading (vision/mission)? What is the waka made of (values/principles)? How do we work well together to paddle the waka most effectively (conduct etc.)? It can be unpacked in many different ways, but it encourages us to explore the most effective ways to work together and can highlight what is needed in order for us to make this journey.
